Can you trade sitting services with a friend or neighbor? Take him out to eat!

I think you should really find out a type of food that your partner really likes. Then ask around and find a restaurant nearby that serves that type of food and has great ratings. Find a good family atmosphere if you need to bring your kids, and make this night a special night for everyone. Go to a movie or something else that is fun afterward. Make sure you let them know what a great time you had. Your partner may just need a change of scenery to see that parenting can be fun, and that you are in need of a break. If you stick to your everyday habits, they become so simple and boring. After you have tried a few different things, your partner will probably look forward to having a night out more often. If it all works out, try a night alone a week or 2 later. You may have to do the planning, but that is okay, some people are better at making plans than others.

Wow. Don't you think five years is a bit much? You'll be ever-so-much happier with your partner and your kids if you get away from the children occasionally for a date-night, dinner, lunch, movie and dinner/or lunch..or whatever. Find a friend or family member to watch the kids and go out, go out, go out!!! I beg you. Here's how you bring it up: I'd be real specific about telling your partner that you both need to do this, and if your partner doesn't need it, you want to and need to. If your partner says no, by all means go with a friend. It would be very sad if your partner didn't honor your needs. Balance your life and even more importantly, speak for yourself.

You set it up, I'm sure he would be a willing partner. I have the same problem and we can't go out due to the kids. But, we had a great evening a couple months ago. He was more than willing to have an evening out without them and with me alone. But, he would not set it up as he is just not that way. But, will come along if everything is all set. Just a note, when we were in the lounge waiting for our table, they were playing golf on the television. My husbands whispers to me, where's our youngest son, he would have found the remote by now and changed that!! Set it up, have fun, everyone needs that once in a while.

Look never mind sneaking off without the kids !You can all go to Sizzler !! The kids love it and there is food for every taste and the cost is reasonable . Not as romantic as a candlelit dinner maybe but after 5 years who cares ? ,

decide what evening you want to go out, hire a baby sitter for the kids, when your partner comes home, tell your partner that we have a reservation at 8:00 pm [it is 6 pm now, you have too hours to get ready,] the baby sitter will be here at 7pm so lets get ready to go, stick to it and insist go out and have a nice evening

hire a babysitter if the kids can't care for themselves and surprise your partner with a nice night out alone

Leave him at home with the kids and you go out with a friend, after five years with a man that hasn't taken you out for a well deserved break, should stay at home and cook for himself. just feed the kids no need to bring them into it.

or you could take him out!! i guess....
